I-Jusi – Zulu for ‘the juice’

This is an award winning experimental graphics magazine created in response to the question: ‘What makes me African?’
Launched in 1994 by graphic designer Gareth Walker, i-jusi has an informal and subversive editorial voice that has influenced many contemporary artists, designers, illustrators, photographers and writers in post-apartheid South Africa.

To celebrate i-jusi’s history, the magazine has launched a limited edition portfolio box of ten lithographs from past issues, exhibited here by curator Jacki Lang.
