Number 5 Cromwell Place was one the home and art studio of Sir John Lavery, the Irish painter. This impressive 19th century building has, for the past three years, been used by South Kensington Estates for temporary art and design exhibitions as part of the Brompton Design District initiative.
The grade-ll listed building is now available to let following a careful renovation by architects practice Thomas Croft Architects, who has cleverly combined the original period features with contemporary finishes. The size of the building (around 4000 sq ft with a first floor ballroom of 1000 sq ft) allows it to be used as an art gallery, embassy or studio on a grand scale, similar to that of Lord and Lady Lavery’s in the late 1890’s.
